Johan Joseph Mally (John), 18 Oct 1853 in Austria, d. 15 Jan 1920 in Chewelah, Stevens Co., WA.  Buried in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Valley, Stevens Co., WA.  Occupation was farmer and religion was Catholic.  John came to America in June of 1876.  He settled in the town of Krain, now called St. Anthony, Stearns Co., MN.  In Aug 1889 John took his family to Valley, Stevens Co., WA where he homesteaded.  In 1898 he acquired the patent to his land, 160 acres in all.  He married Maria Gretsch, daughter of Simon Growtsch and Margaretha Winter, 11 Feb 1878 in Albany, Stearns Co., MN.  She was born in 1859 in Albany, Stearns Co., MN and died 1 Jan 1898 in Chewelah, Stevens Co., WA.  She is buried in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Valley, Stevens Co., WA.  Maria's parents were from Bavaria.  They are buried in Ridgefield, WA.
